IMSA Fusion

IMSA Fusion is an afterschool student STEM enrichment program for Illinois students who are talented, interested, and motivated in mathematics and science. IMSA Fusion is for 4th and 5th-grade students who have been selected by their teachers based on MAP data, academic achievement, and science/math interest.

In brief, the program goals are:

  • Maintain or increase students interest, involvement, and literacy in science and mathematics
  • Stimulate excellence in schools’ science and mathematics programs

IMSA meets every Wednesday from 3:15 – 5:15 pm

Lincoln News Network

Lincoln News Network will be developed from the ground up teaching students the work behind a news network production. Students will learn about the various careers available in this field, write a resume and cover letter, and learn interview skills they need to get their job! Students will learn how to organize newscasts, learn how to use technology, and TEAMS to create and present news segments, and write special reports based on their interests. The news team will create a logo for our news network and create advertisements using it. The work of the team will be presented bi-weekly on Friday morning!

Book Club

The Book Club is open to 4th and 5th graders who show interest in reading. Classroom teachers will be asked for recommendations. The book club has the following goals:

  • Promote a love for literature and a positive attitude towards reading
  •  Invite natural discussions that lead to student inquiry

Art Club

The Art Club will create art projects including crafts, drawing, and painting, and coloring in order to develop artistic expression in the students.

Board Game Club

Board Game Club is devoted to bringing game players together in this safe space, gamers can: interact, learn, meet, play games, and relax.

Game Club

Each week focuses on a new learning game. From Kahoot to Virtual Escape Room and beyond.

Game Club meets every Wednesday from 3:20 – 4:20 pm

Drawing

Students will follow guided step-by-step instructions for drawings connected to characters from the weekly read-aloud. Students will practice reading skills through weekly stories and then draw characters from the stories they read connecting their own personal experiences to their drawings.

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is a creative,team-focused, and STEAM competition for students in grades 4th-5th.

Woz Ed/Coding Club

Coding Club uses WOZ Ed as a model for incorporating computational thinking and accelerating the path to employment.

4th and 5th-grade Coding Club meets every Wednesday from 3:30 – 4:30 pm

Homework Club

Homework Club is a place for students to work on their homework, reading, and other projects in a casual setting. Students can work collaboratively and quietly discuss their work.

Lego Club

A fun and interactive way to help encourage and develop young minds. Hands-on activities and challenges building with LEGOS with an academic focus on language arts and math. Students will improve on communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
