IMSA Fusion

IMSA Fusion is an afterschool student STEM enrichment program for Illinois students who are talented, interested, and motivated in mathematics and science. IMSA Fusion is for 4th and 5th-grade students who have been selected by their teachers based on MAP data, academic achievement, and science/math interest.

In brief, the program goals are:

  • Maintain or increase students interest, involvement, and literacy in science and mathematics
  • Stimulate excellence in schools’ science and mathematics programs

IMSA meets every Monday from 3:30 – 5:oo pm

Open Gym

Open gym is an unstructured activity time where the gymnasium is available to the students to play, pick-up sports such as basketball or volleyball, soccer, participate in fitness stations, run laps, etc.  This can significantly increase daily physical activity opportunities, it also will allow for a safe space for students to be physically active, no matter their skill level.

Open Gym 2nd & 3rd graders meet every Tuesday from 7:20- 8:20 am

Open Gym 4th & 5th graders meet every Wednesday from 7:20-8:20 am

 

Healthy Habits

Healthy Habits teaches students the importance of building healthy habits which include regular exercise and nutritious meals

Healthy Habits meets every Monday from 7:20 – 8:20 am

Art Club

The Art Club will create art projects including crafts, drawing, painting, and coloring in order to develop artistic expression in the students.

Art Club meets every Monday from 3:30 – 4:20pm

Yoga Club

The yoga club is an introduction to yoga for children. students will practice beginning yoga poses, breathing exercises, mindfulness, and meditation.

Yoga club 3rd-5th  grade meets every Monday in Spanish from 3:30-4:30 

Yoga club 3rdand 5th grade meets every Wednesday in English from  3:30-4:30

Game Club

Each week focuses on a new learning game. From Kahoot to Virtual Escape Room and beyond.

Game Club meets every Wednesday from 3:20 – 4:20 pm

Drawing

Students will follow guided step-by-step instructions for drawings connected to characters from the weekly read-aloud. Students will practice reading skills through weekly stories and then draw characters from the stories they read connecting their own personal experiences to their drawings.

Drawing Club meets every Monday from 3:30 – 4:25 pm

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is a creative,team-focused, and STEAM competition for students in grades 4th-5th.

Destination Imagination Club meets every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 pm

Woz Ed/Coding Club

Coding Club uses WOZ Ed as a model for incorporating computational thinking and accelerating the path to employment.

4th and 5th-grade Coding Club meets every Wednesday from 3:30 – 4:30 pm

K-3rd grade Woz Ed Club meets every Monday from 3:30-4:30 

Lego Club

A fun and interactive way to help encourage and develop young minds. Hands-on activities and challenges building with LEGOS with an academic focus on language arts and math. Students will improve on communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.

Tutoring

2nd-grade tutoring meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 3:30 -4:30

3rd-grade tutoring meets Mondays and Thursdays 3:30-4:30
